Worldwide, June 14 is marked as the World Volunteer Blood Donor Day. The goal of marking this important date is to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products thanks to voluntary blood donors. At the same time, the goal is to express gratitude to voluntary blood donors for their human gesture of life-saving.
Blood is an important tool, both for planned treatments and for emergency interventions. It can help patients suffering from irreversible diseases to live longer and better , and is necessary in complex medical and surgical interventions. Blood is also necessary for the treatment of injuries in emergencies, sudden accidents (natural and other accidents, armed conflicts and the like). It has an irreplaceable role in rescuing pregnant women and newborns.
The full structure of the Red Cross in Bosnia and Herzegovina works to promote voluntary, anonymous and free blood donation, and blood donations actions are organized in cooperation with competent blood transfusion services. Within the structure of the Red Cross of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Red Cross of Republika Srpska , traditional entity gatherings of blood donors will be held this year. On this occasion, blood donors will be awarded jubilee recognitions (for 50, 75 and 100 and more donations of blood). Similar event will be organized in Red Cross of Brcko District BiH.
On June 14, many Red Cross organizations have set up blood donation actions in their structure, and in this way we congratulate them as well as to all present and future blood donors.
Donated blood - saved life!
Let’s donate our blood with love!
