Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)  sector for cooperation and coordination with members of the RC and RC Movement for Europe and Central Asia, Ms. Sophie Marie Goyet Čelebić, visited the structure of the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina (RCSBIH) from 19- 20 06 2017. 

A meeting in RCSBIH  headquarters was held on June 19, 2017 and was followed by meetings in the Red Cross of the Federation of BiH (June 19, 2017) and the Red Cross of the Republic of Srpska (June 20, 2017). Participants of the meeting in RCSBIH hjeadquarters were Mr. Branko Leko, Secretary General of RCSBIH  Ms. Sophie Marie Goyet Čelebić, and Ms Zorica Lučić, Responsible Person for the Co-operation of the ICRC Delegation to BiH and a Coordinator for International Cooperation and Assistant Secretary General Ms. Žaklina Ninković. During the meeting, the main challenges were discussed, as well as the priorities of RCSBIH in the following period (which included the strategic priorities of the management – announced relocation of the Professional Service to a  part of the reconstructed building, the reconstruction of the Professional Service, strengthening the legal basis of the overall structure of RCSBIH, Disaster relief programs, First aid, Voluntary donation of blood), and the necessary support from the ICRC for the implementation of program activities within the Tracing service (the issue of the missing persons), Mine Risk Warnings and the drafting of RCSBIH Development Plan.

Ms. Goyet Čelebić highly assessed the achievements of the administration and management of RCSBIH in this mandate and confirmed the continuation of the support of the ICRC in the forthcoming period, with close cooperation and transparent coordination with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. She also emphasized that it is necessary for the Professional Service to have competent staff in the headquarters that will be able to contribute to the achievement of all strategic priorities of the management, as well as strengthening the image of RCSBIH  through their hard work and dedication.
