Worldwide, June 14 is celebrated as the World Day of Voluntary Blood Donors. The goal of celebrating this important date is to raise awareness about the needs for safe blood and blood products thanks to voluntary blood donors. At the same time, the goal is to express gratitude to voluntary blood donors for their humane gestures to save human lives.
Blood is an important matter, both for planned treatments and for emergency interventions. It can help patients suffering from incurable diseases to live longer and have more quality lives, and is necessary in complex medical and surgical interventions. Blood is also necessary in the treatment of injuries in emergencies, sudden accidents (natural and other disasters, armed conflicts and the like). It has an irreplaceable role in saving the lives of pregnant women and newborns.
Complete structure of the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina is working to promote voluntary, anonymous and free blood donation, and organize actions in cooperation with competent blood transfusion services. Within the structure of the Red Cross of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Red Cross of the Republic of Srpska, traditional entity meetings of voluntary blood donors will be held this year, due to which occasionally jubilee awards will be distributed (for 50, 75 and 100 and more donations of blood) .
June 14th is the day when many organizations of the Red Cross in the structure have scheduled the implementation of actions of voluntary blood donors, and in this way we send them a greeting card, as well as to all current and future voluntary blood donors.
