In the period from 07-08.11.2018. a representative of IFRC Regional Office for Europe, Mr. Nebojša Medojević , a delegate for disaster preparedness and response, visited the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina headquarters in Sarajevo. During his two-day visit, he has held discussions with Mr. Branko Leko , RCSBIH Secretary General and Mr. Elmir Camić, a Deputy Head of the ICRC Delegation to BiH. They talked about current activities related refugee / migrant crisis in BiH, including activities of RCSBIH Tracing service related restoring family links services provided to refugees / migrants, as well as plans for the forthcoming period. A meeting was also held with a relevant official from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in BiH, Mrs. Irma Sadiković, where the activities of this partner organization were discussed in order to determine the scope of engagement and define the main directions of action as well as basics for RCSBIH capacity development, which would be a starting point for the development of a plan for urgent appeal that will be launched by IFRC.
On the second day of his working visit, Mr. Medojević held an orientation session for the leadership of the national society, as well as coordinators for disaster preparedness and response from RCRS and RCFBIH on the possible structure of the urgent appeal. Participants at this session were: Mr Branko Leko, Secretary General of RCSBIH, Mr. Denis Šehanović, secretary of Brčko district RC , Ms. Gordana Ostojić, a coordinator for disaster preparedness and response of RCRS, Mr Senadin Kumro, a coordinator for disaster preparedness and response RCFBiH, and Ms. Žaklina Ninković, a coordinator for international cooperation and assistant Secretary General. At the session, participants defined Activity plan for potential urgent appeal for response to migrant crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina during 2019, as well as deadlines for the urgent appeal which is to be launched by the middle of December 2018.
