From 28-29.11.2018. Representatives of IFRC Regional Office for Europe, Ms. Seija Tyrninoska, Head of Cluster Support Team for Central and Southeast European Countries and Miss Henriette Koos, Senior Associate for Disaster and Crisis visited the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina (RCSBIH) .The aim of the visit was to provide a comprehensive support to RCSBIH in its work in a crisis situation, especially in the preparation of an urgent appeal for refugees / migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina, because of increased needs , primarily food, hygiene supplies, clothing, footwear and other non-food items in the upcoming winter conditions.

During this visit, a series of meetings were organized to present the current situation and plan the next steps in the response to the migrant crisis, as well as other issues relevant to the work of RCSBIH.

On 28.November a meeting was held with RCSBIH Secretary General Mr. Branko Leko where he confirmed the commitment that RCSBIH will continue to provide significant assistance to refugees / migrants through its structure of organizations on site, and with the support and launching of an urgent appeal to IFRC for the provision of necessary humanitarian items , as well as through bilateral co-operation with sister national Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Topics that were discussed at the meeting were Organizational Development and First Aid projects, the status of the Development Plan based on the Safer Access Framework and the upcoming 13th Mediterranean Conference in April 2019, as well as the Youth Meeting of the Mediterranean hosted by RCSBIH and potential support required from IFRC and ICRC for organizing these important events.

A meeting with the assistant Minister of security , Mr Marijan Baotić was held on 28.11.2018. where participants exchanged information on current migrants/refugees situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and where it was underlined that RCSBIH is a primary partner to the Ministry of security BiH in humanitarian field and that RCSBIH is recommended by the Ministry to all partners and donors.

A meeting with Ms. Stephanie Woldenberg, Senior Professional Associate for Protection, UNHCR Office in BiH, was held on 28.11.2018. Ms. Woldenberg presented latest information on UNHCR activities, and RCSBIH presented its activities on mitigating migrants crisis with the support from IFRC.

On that occasion, on 29.11.2018. Host organized a visit to the Reception center Ušivak to define needs that are not covered by other stakeholders and which could be included into the Urgent appeal by RCSBIH.

On the same day, a consultative meeting between the Movement partners, that are active in BiH related to Urgent appeal, was held and participants at the meeting were representatives of RCSBIH structure, UAE office in BiH , IFRC, Swiss Red Cross Office in BiH, the ICRC Delegation in BiH, Delegation of the Turkish Red Crescent Society in BiH, Delegation of the Italian Red Cross for the Balkans based in Podgorica. On this occasion, a draft of an urgent appeal as well as the process related to its launch was presented, and a common approach was agreed in the work with RCSBIH on its implementation.
